Party Cadres Should 'Five Disciplines'

How should one do their work? Perhaps everyone has their own understanding. But how to do it scientifically, reasonably, and effectively – there is certainly a certain standard to be adhered to. The 'Five Disciplines' are particularly worthy of serious consideration and diligent practice by Party members and cadres.

Do your own things.Doing your own things is natural, but some comrades don't want to do their own work, always pushing things aside with various excuses. Some are because they can't do their jobs well, but more are because of their ingrained 'loafing' and 'just good enough' mentality. These comrades don't worry about how others perceive them, they just don't want to do anything, letting others say whatever they want. When leaders talk to them about their issues, they feign helplessness to gain sympathy and evade responsibility. Party members and cadres shoulder the mission of serving the people, and to do this work, one must make strenuous efforts. If you don't want to do your own job, how can you expect to do anything else? If you can't do it, it's a matter of ability; whether you do it or not is a matter of attitude. Developing abilities is possible; rectifying attitudes is necessary. Doing your own things consistently is the normal state for Party members and cadres.

Cooperate to do things.Work should be done through both division of labor and cooperation. This applies to Party cadres and general Party members alike. Some things have no clear division of labor, and some things are the work of everyone together. If everyone thinks it's not their job, these tasks will not be done, harming the interests of the masses and the unit, and potentially affecting themselves. Therefore, we not only need to cooperate but also need to do these things well. Through cooperation, achieving certain things gains recognition, which is more direct and concrete than the simple praise and recognition that some comrades receive by pleasing leaders or using various methods to promote themselves. Cooperation leads to recognition; cooperation achieves results. Successful cooperation for oneself can teach one how to get along with colleagues and exchange ideas, improving one's leadership and coordination abilities, laying a solid foundation for future development.

Learn to do things that you don't know.Everyone has strengths and weaknesses. Strengths should be developed, and weaknesses should be improved. In the workplace, some things are not familiar or skillful, and it's normal not to be able to do them well. As long as you are willing to learn and work hard, you will eventually succeed. Instead of immediately giving up on a problem, one should first resist the urge to back down. Without this, you will never succeed. Huang Xuhua, when designing China's first nuclear submarine, the submarine was still a blank slate in China, but he knew this was a task assigned to him by the Party and the State, and he had to complete it. Without conditions, he didn't create conditions, he didn't rely on research; after overcoming the difficult obstacles, he and his team finally succeeded. If you don't know it, learn it; if you are weak in something, strengthen it. Through learning and practice, become a steel man.

Face difficult things bravely. The new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics is marked by deep-water reforms. Under this environment, we inevitably encounter many difficulties, some unprecedented. How to respond? Besides facing challenges head-on, there is no other choice. How to face challenges head-on? First, maintain a positive attitude. Difficulties are like springs; if you squeeze them, they weaken; if you let them go, they strengthen. Attitude determines state of mind, and a good state of mind leads to good performance, and exceptional performance may be beyond expectations. Secondly, maintain a struggle attitude. When encountering difficulties, think about the root causes of the problem and seek solutions. Believe that no matter how difficult a problem is, as long as it's not a fantasy, with appropriate methods and patience and perseverance, it can be resolved. Finally, maintain a return to zero. With each overcoming of difficulty, solution of problem, achievement of result, there will be much hardship; success is worthy of our excitement. But in addition to excitement, we must return to zero, and use this as a normal state, unshackle ourselves and do things, and open up a more beautiful future.

Help others with tedious tasks. In our work, we often encounter the situation of feeling frustrated and unwilling to do work when faced with some tasks that are not difficult but have a large volume. When we or our colleagues encounter this situation, we should seek help or offer help to others. Doing the same job can be tiring, and the encouragement, support, and help of others are particularly important. Those seemingly casual encouragements, sincere support, and friendly assistance have benefited many people, becoming a powerful source of motivation for their achievements and success. Seeking help is not because one's job cannot be handled; helping others with tedious tasks is not about showing off one's skills; it's about teamwork and collaboration. When we encounter the same problems, others will help us. This is being a person, and it's also for our own benefit.
