Basic Punching Techniques: Empty Punch Training Methods

The main purpose of shadow boxing is to further improve and enhance the coordination of boxing movements through sparring with a simulated opponent. It's also the best warm-up method before a boxing match.
Through shadow boxing, you can strengthen the movement of your feet, the frequency of your punches, and improve your defensive skills, allowing you to further learn and consolidate easy and effective punches and a strict defense, providing a solid foundation for winning future boxing matches.
This type of exercise can be conducted without any interference from an opponent, allowing you to practice actions as if you were alone, which further improves your practical combat skills.
.
Shadow boxing can be practiced in the following ways:
(1) Improving boxing technique and familiarizing with punches
It is best to practice shadow boxing in front of a mirror so that you can clearly see if your punches are correct. Correct the movement trajectory, coordinate body strength, and improve punch speed. Based on a single punch, practice one or two more, such as left straight punch-right straight punch combination, left straight punch-right sweep punch combination, left straight punch-right hook punch combination, and left upward hook-left flat hook punch practice.
(2) Simulated practice
Simulated practice involves treating the opponent as a simulation object, practicing how to defend against their attacks and how to approach and deliver a powerful counterattack. Before the match, you should have a clear understanding of your opponent's punch route.
(3) Improve fitness training
Shadow boxing can be used as a means of high-volume, cyclical training. It should be done with 3 minutes per round, with power, intensity, density, and speed, continuously punching, combining punches or combinations, then rest for one minute. Repeat round after round. This practice can improve your strength and endurance.
