In Egypt, There Are Mummies Over 2,000 Years Old, Whose Hair Still Remains Clear

Starting from Dar es Salaam, my final destination was Egypt, with a transit through Addis Ababa, then continuing to Cairo. The entire trip took about ten to fifteen hours.

Although Egypt belongs to Africa, it has significant cultural differences compared to southern Africa. Here, it feels like the Middle East. You almost cannot find black people here. The pyramids, pharaohs, and endless deserts – regardless of history textbooks or Hollywood movies, they have heavily embellished its mystique; but the moment you step onto its land, what you see may exceed all your imagination. The pyramids are not far away, they can be viewed from the city center, and there are oases in the Egyptian desert, with resorts along the Nile and Red Sea coasts, which are no less impressive than any popular tropical islands.

Ancient Egyptian civilization has been completely covered by Islamic culture, leaving only many historical sites: pyramids, tombs, and various stone and mummy sculptures. Although the Egyptian Museum is not among the 'world's top four museums,' I believe it is still one of the best museums to visit.

In Cairo's National Museum, many mummies are stored. Even after 3,000 years, the hair on the mummies is still clearly visible, and the preservation is very good.

Tutankhamun's artifacts are the centerpiece of the museum's exhibits. Currently, more than 5,000 artifacts excavated about Tutankhamun are displayed in the Egyptian Museum. Since the artifacts were first unearthed in 1922, only one-third have been publicly displayed.

Cairo National Museum is very well-preserved, with a large number of exhibits. You can spend a whole day browsing here. Although the exhibits are numerous, they are not arranged very neatly and regularly, some are scattered throughout the museum's corners. This lack of order has formed its own characteristic. The people whose mummies were made include the liver in the Imsety jar, the lungs in the baboon jar, the stomach in the jackal jar, and the intestines in the vulture jar. The jackal-shaped Anubis would guard the mummy's coffin.

The Egyptian Museum was established in 1858, located near Tahrir Square in Cairo, and is a rustic double red brick building. It houses a collection of 250,000 artifacts. The statues of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure; the golden headdresses of the twelve princesses of the dynasty; and the mummy of Ramesses II are all world-renowned treasures.

Various gold, gilded, and millennium-old artifacts. Each exhibit is a piece of artifact from 3,000 to 5,000 years ago. The accumulation of thousands of years seems not to have left too many traces on these ancient and ancient artifacts.

By the way, you need to pay 50 local currency to obtain a photography permit, the entire Egyptian Museum is very chaotic. It's really difficult to finish browsing the Egyptian Museum, so many that it will make you tired of the aesthetic, this one piece alone is a thousand years old artifact. There is a currency exchange machine at the entrance of the Egyptian Museum, you can exchange US dollars to Egyptian pounds, very convenient.

The first floor exhibition hall is arranged in chronological order according to the time sequence, clockwise. Room 48, this statue is a pharaoh statue from the Early Dynastic period. The mummies are arranged like a train berth, row by row. There is a royal mummy exhibition hall on the upper floor, which requires a separate ticket, and the 11 pharaoh mummies are displayed in a rectangular shape. If you like mummies, you can go in, but be careful if you are afraid.

The mummies are not exclusive to royalty, ordinary people also had mummies, and there were even Italian-style mummies.

For students interested in ancient Egypt, you must carefully visit the Egyptian National Museum. Compared to the outside 36 degrees of high temperature, the temperature in the museum is more acceptable.

There is a gift shop outside the exhibition hall, where you can buy souvenirs, but the prices are not much cheaper than outside. After exiting the museum, I prepared to go to the pyramids.
