Route and Scenic Area Overview: From Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province to Zhalutai Banner, Inner Mongolia
This route has been traveled countless times, witnessing the changes of the four seasons from Hebei's Zhangjiakou to Inner Mongolia's Tonglia City, Zhalutai Banner. It also saw the repair of the G303 National Highway (Kexi Tencent Flag – Balin Zuoluqi, Dabanzhen High-Speed) as part of the Danshui High-Speed.
Traveling north on Zhanghai Expressway (formerly Zhangshi Expressway, Zhangjiakou – Shijiazhuang Expressway) through Zhangjiakou, Baturan, Zhangbei County, with altitudes of 1600-1800 meters, bordering Zhangjiakou City, Chongli District, with an average annual temperature of 3.2 degrees Celsius, a great place to escape the summer heat. Famous attractions include Huapai Ridge, Six Dynasties Great Wall, Yuan Zhongdu Relics, Zhangbei Sky Road.
Continuing north on Zhanghai Expressway to Inner Mongolia's Xinji City, Tiyupusi Banner, bordering Zhangjiakou City, Zhangbei County, with an average wind speed of 4 meters per second and an average annual temperature of 1.6 degrees Celsius. Summers have abundant rainfall, and winters are covered in ice and snow. The main scenic area is the Tiyupusi Flag Imperial Horse Field, formerly where Qing Dynasty emperors cultivated their mounts, and now a place for raising horses for film and television.

Turning momentarily to Inner Mongolia's Chifeng City, Kexi Tencent Flag (located in the eastern part of Inner Mongolia, at the intersection of the Inner Mongolian Plateau and the south end of the Daxinganling Mountains and the Yan Shan Mountains' remnants of the Seven Old Tu Shan), with an average annual temperature of 2-4 degrees Celsius. The geological site content is rich and diverse. The main scenic areas include the Ice Relics, Dasita Granite Rock Forest, Quaternary Ice Relics, Darinuer Volcano Group, and Hot Springs geological landscape.

Continuing east through Inner Mongolia's Balin Youqi, Dabanzhen Town, according to historical records, in 1650, the Qing Emperor Shunzhi's sister, Princess Gulei Shuhui, married the first king of Balin Youqi. At the Wangfu Clan, many brick and tile houses were built, which locals called 'Yihe Xing' meaning 'big house'. 'White Xing' is the same as 'Ban Sheng', thus the origin of Dabanzhen. Balin Youqi holds the Culture Festival every October mid-month, with singing, dancing, and horse racing cultural activities. You can also taste local fruits, such as apples and pears. The main scenic areas are Huifu Temple, Baiquan Temple.
