Xingkai Lake Nature Reserve Welcomes Large Flock of Migratory Birds; Over 40,000 Observed in a Day
Black Dragon River Network (reporter Han Qiao) reported that with the warming of the weather, the Xingkai Lake National Nature Reserve, located on the Sino-Russian border, has welcomed a large number of migratory birds. Currently, the migratory birds arriving at Xingkai Lake Nature Reserve are mainly cranes and geese, with the maximum number observed at more than 40,000 migratory birds in a day. It is expected that the Xingkai Lake Nature Reserve will peak with the migratory bird migration period in late March and early April.

Xingkai Lake is the Sino-Russian border lake, it is the largest migratory stopover point in Northeast Asia. Tens of thousands of ducks, swans, gulls, etc. stay and breed here every year, and the peak volume of migratory birds in the spring exceeds 170,000. Xingkai Lake wetland is an internationally important wetland, with a wetland area of 2225 square kilometers, connected with the Russian wetland, one of the largest three wetlands in the world. The wetland is rich in wild plants and animals, with 285 species of important migratory birds, 9 species of national first-level protected birds and 41 species of second-level protected birds.
Photographer Li Rongxian introduced that the Xingkai Lake Nature Reserve has a very good ecological environment, and every year from mid-March, various migratory birds begin to return, such as oriental white stork, white-tailed sea eagle, white spoonbill, black-faced heron, white heron, and various ducks. The scenery on the lake is also very beautiful, so photographers are very willing to come here to take various birds.

It is reported that the Xingkai Lake Nature Reserve is one of the main breeding grounds for national first-level protected birds, oriental white crane, oriental white stork, white-tailed sea eagle, golden eagle.
