A Life Not of Your Desire

People often fall into a state of confusion, not knowing what they can do or what they should do. Aside from the necessary but unproductive work, much of their time is spent playing on their phones, browsing the internet, watching television, and chatting. Days like this slip away. Many people come to this state, including you and me.

However, when the night falls and we reflect on this life, do we feel like something is missing? And indeed, something is missing! As the famous Roman politician Cicero said, 'My leisure is my busiest time.' I think we should find something to do for ourselves – activities that interest us and benefit our minds and bodies, to enrich our souls.

We might reflect on our lives and be willing to change, but have we truly started to make that change? And for how long can we persevere on this path? Perhaps we have changed, but after a period of ambitious aspirations, we return to the old ways, still living a confused life. Constant reflection and constant change eventually lead us back to where we started – this is the life of ordinary people.
Perhaps this is why we are ordinary people. But regardless, we, as ordinary people, have a certain clarity compared to those who are simply enjoying this confused life. We know we shouldn't and can't live this way, but we still resist our human vices and laziness, constantly struggling to live a life we don't want. This is our sadness!
