With martial arts, everyone generally knows the four major fists of ‘cha, flower, cannon, and Hong’. Flower Fist is one of the outstanding flowers in Chinese martial arts. It belongs to the Shaolin school. It is said to have been created during the Kangxi and Yongzheng years of the Qing Dynasty by the Jiangnan Grand Marquis Gan Fuchui.

Flower Fist was originally called ‘fast fist’, also known as Flower Fist. ‘Flower’ means ‘transformation’. It is said that ‘Flower is not flower, seeking the secret in the middle, clever tactics with linked movements, without form’. When the arms move quickly, it makes people dazzled, and the changes are unpredictable like a ghost, making the enemy difficult to defend. The fist style is fine in the interior and divine in the exterior, with movement and stillness, short and long, clever tactics, solid and practical, suitable for the occasion, compact and connected, circling the middle to strike, shadowless and invisible.

The characteristics of the style of Flower Fist are ‘as hard as iron, as soft as cotton, the body is like a willow, the arms are like a whip’. The actions are flexible and variable, with alternating fast and slow speeds, with both strength and softness, and the body and spirit are complete. The lyrics rookies say: ‘Flower is not flower, seeking the secret in the middle, clever tactics with linked movements, without form’.

The Flower Fist has eight forms, each form is to test the skills of the practitioner, to achieve both defensive and offensive effect. The eight forms are: 1. ‘Locking and Shielding’ 2. ‘Left Capturing Right Protecting’ 3. ‘Left Punch Right Defend’ 4. ‘Left Punch Right Protect’ 5. ‘Left Lock Right Protect’ 6. ‘Left Punch Right Protect’ 7. ‘Left Punch Right Protect’ 8. ‘Left Punch Right Protect’.
