Five Animal Play is indeed familiar to many, but if you truly understand it, you're likely in the minority. I'll briefly introduce our traditional exercise.

Five Animal Play is divided into Tiger Play, Deer Play, Bear Play, Monkey Play, and Bird Play. The main way to train is to simulate the movements and forms of these five animals to strengthen the body and enhance physical fitness, with the goal of increasing flexibility and improving physical fitness.

Unfortunately, this traditional exercise has seen no progress or development since ancient times. Not only has it declined, but fewer and fewer people know about it and practice it, which is a pity.

Surprisingly, the core ideas of Five Animal Play have been grasped by foreigners, and they've greatly expanded and organized them with modern exercise knowledge.

How to Practice Animal Flow

Western 'Five Animal Play' – Animal Flow

Animal Flow is a self-weight training pattern that utilizes ground movements to generate power. Unlike our traditional Five Animal Play, which emphasizes simulating Tiger, Deer, Bear, Monkey, and Bird, Animal Flow combines movements of four-legged and two-legged animals, even insect-like jointed creatures, into a new training method.

Mike Fitch has 20 years of coaching experience. Since 2010, he's been researching and innovating self-weight training.

His aim is to allow the body to move freely and flexibly. This central idea is exactly the same as that of Five Animal Play. After that, he began to study gymnastics, parkour, and yoga, and combined his understanding of these movements with the foundations of animal movement patterns and muscle-fascia training, to develop the Animal Flow system.

Various types of fitness enthusiasts can find something in Animal Flow that suits their training goals.
