Basketball Rules Fun Science: What is 'Step0'
Currently, the latest NBA regulations regarding stepping are the 'step0' regulations.

Let's first explain the definition of 'step0', which is when the ball is being carried and there is only one foot on the ground, at that time, that foot is step0. This means that whether it's a pass from someone else or a self-dribble, when carrying the ball/passing the ball, there is only one foot in contact with the ground at the moment, and that foot is step0, and the next step is step1, which is what we call the pivot foot.

According to the new rules, there are the following conclusions:
1. When the person is turning, if the left foot is not off the ground, and the right foot is off the ground, if the person then passes the ball (i.e., has already passed the ball), at that time the left foot is step0, and the right foot is the pivot foot, it's not a step.
2. When the person is turning, if the left foot is not off the ground, and the right foot is off the ground, if the person does not pass the ball (not passing the ball, still moving), until the person then holds the ball with both hands, at that time the right foot is step0, theoretically the person can still take another step, and the left foot is the pivot foot, and then continue to rotate.
Therefore, it can be said that in the new rules, this is a surely good ball, whether or not the ball is passed (if not passed, even can take another step)

And currently, this rule is vigorously promoted by Harden. Harden's understanding and utilization of the rules are indeed very clever, and this is also one of the important reasons he has been the scoring champion of the league for multiple consecutive seasons.
