All Things Have Spirit – My Life with My Dogs
For days, a lot of people lived in the old houses in the urban village, accompanied by three dogs and more than ten pigeons.

Three ordinary dirt dogs, one girl and two boys, Little Black, Little Yellow, and their mother, Big Black. Big Black had been in the house for more than a year, Little Black and Little Yellow were born less than four months ago. Originally, they were triplets, but one died prematurely.
Big Black gave birth to it, and we didn't know. It was a freezing night halfway through the month, and it gave birth to three puppies. In the morning, it had finished giving birth. Grandpa saw two puppies rolling around in its belly. One puppy was motionless. He picked up the dead puppy and threw it into the trash can for convenience.
In the morning, when I was emptying the trash can, I found another dead puppy. 'Oh, when did Big Black give birth? How did a puppy die?' Although we hadn't spent much time with it, seeing the death of a life still made me feel a little sad. But soon I forgot about it and continued to do other things.
It may have survived for a while after birth, but the nights were extremely cold, and the dog mother's embrace could only warm two children. It lay still and fed them. It didn't have the extraordinary willpower to overcome the cold winter nights, but it didn't… It fell into deep self-reproach: If I had known, I should have put some cotton in the dog house a few days earlier, Big Black wouldn't have died.
Dogs are human's best friends, they can guard the house and bring joy, but we sometimes ignore their existence and don't take good care of them. The puppy died so early, it would only make me regret for a moment when I saw its body. But I would quickly forget it and continue to do other things.
Big Black was feeding its two children peacefully with its food in front of it. After becoming a mother, it was much more docile, even forgetting its original job of guarding the house.
Before, strangers or people passing by came to the house, or someone was walking outside the door, it would bark frantically until we came out to check, and then reassured it that everything was okay. It didn't make a sound during the month, only its two children were in its eyes. It lay still and fed them.
I was curious about the puppies, and my daughter often visited to see them. But the dog house was in a corner, dark and hard to see. Once, my daughter used a flashlight to look more clearly. The blinding light of the flashlight shone into Big Black's eyes, and Big Black howled at her.
'Grandpa, why is Big Black so fierce?' My daughter asked Grandpa in confusion. She had never seen Big Black bark at her before.
'It's just that the dog house is too bright, Big Black was scared by the light.' Grandpa replied casually.
My daughterted her mouth and closed the flashlight, trying to look more clearly at the puppy. Children love animals when they are young. But she couldn't see it clearly and shook her head in frustration.
'It's okay, the puppies will come out soon, let you see them.'
Sure enough, after a few days, Big Black and Little Black and Little Yellow came out of the dog house.
At first, Little Black and Little Yellow were full of curiosity about the outside world, they turned over every corner in the yard. They were just ordinary dogs.
They were just getting used to humans, they didn't know how humans walked, and they were confused. They wandered around in the yard, and we often stepped on them. I guess they were still young, and their vision and hearing weren't sensitive enough.
Every time we stepped on them, both humans and dogs shouted, 'Ah! Ah!' 'Woof! Woof!' But humans were tall, so they didn't get hurt, they just felt surprised for a moment.
Big Black heard it and shouted at Little Black and Little Yellow a few times to warn them not to block the road. Little Black and Little Yellow were frightened and trembled, and they quickly ran back to the nest.
Over time, about a month later, people and dogs coexisted harmoniously. People learned to step on their feet, and dogs learned to avoid people's legs. We never heard the shouts of humans and dogs again.
Little Black and Little Yellow were at their best two months later, they were lively and playful, they would run to me as soon as they heard I was off work, they would circle around me, wherever I went they followed me. Or when no one was around, they played and wrestled with each other.
Playing with them was a great joy for me, they liked to play with shoes, and they were interested in shoelaces. Every time they climbed onto my shoes, they bit and pulled the shoelaces, they quickly untied them twice or three times.
'You guys untied the shoelaces, you can tie them up yourself!' I shouted at them. Little Black and Little Yellow blinked their eyes at me, as if to say: 'We're just playing games, why do you take it so seriously?'
Of course I know they can't tie it themselves, I bent down and tied the shoelaces for them, and we started the game again. After tying the shoelaces, they suddenly jumped up to me, and we started the game again.
Happily playing for a while, I patted my head: 'Humans and dogs both like to play, as long as they are friendly, they can cross species. Humans bring joy to dogs, and dogs bring joy to humans.'
Dogs are human's most loyal friends, and they listen to humans. Every time they play outside, just shout 'Big Black, Little Black, Little Yellow, come home.'
Then, not long after, they ran back home.
This dirt dog has the name 'Chinese Pastoral Dog'. It is one of the oldest dog breeds in China, and it was once called 'the national dog'. It is easy to raise and has a strong life force. It is all over the world, and we are just a few ordinary ones.
The leftovers in the house are never rejected, they fulfill their duties, guard the house, and love you with loyalty, and their eyes reveal love, loyalty, and openness.
According to Frederick Metge, a visiting lecturer at the Pennsylvania State University Animal Science Department, dogs may not feel love in the same way as humans, but they are willing to devote all their emotions to humans because they are human's loyal servants. That's why many people like dogs.
All things have spirituality, and humans are the most spiritual beings. Dogs are also spiritual. We humans, as spiritual beings, need to 'take responsibility for the universe,' maintain our correct development direction, and strive to build a harmonious world. We cannot lead the world into danger.
