Recently, seven black swan babies were born in the migratory haven of Poyang Lake National Wetland Park, which is also the first time in the past ten years that swans have hatched and raised in Poyang Lake National Wetland Park.
Reporter learned that the 7 swan babies came from two families, 3 were hatched on March 13th, and the other 4 were born on April 4th. The 7 little guys are the first swans hatched and raised in Poyang Lake wetland park.
According to the consultant for rare bird species, Sun Jijun, black swans are the purest and most loyal animals in the animal kingdom, and their egg laying and hatching require simultaneous water surfaces, marshes, and grasslands.
Sun Jijun said that black swans are completed by a couple, from nesting, laying eggs, and hatching, the couple stay together and never leave until the baby's birth.
Furthermore, Sun Jijun also introduced that a pair of black swan couples need about 38 days of natural incubation to welcome the arrival of the swan babies, but to ensure that these little guys can survive and grow up healthy, the incubation period is crucial, at this time, they need artificial help.
Sun Jijun introduced that there are currently 5 pairs of black swan couples in the protection area who are incubating their little babies, and he will arrive on time every day to check them out.
Poyang Lake National Wetland Park scenic management center responsible person Liu Yu said: 'In the future, many more swan babies will successfully hatch like them, in addition, we have launched swan baby adoption and naming activities, hoping that friends who like these swan babies can come to our scenic area to see them and contribute a small force to the protection of swans.'
