Foreign Tourists Confused: 'What is Chinese-Style Tourism' Like? Why are Chinese People So Obsessed?
Nowadays, tourism has become a widely active activity for the public. As long as there's free time, people choose group tours or self-driving trips to other places. However, for most people, the meaning of travel is merely taking photos, especially many elderly people and grandmothers who don't care about the historical anecdotes of the sites they visit; they're primarily concerned with whether the photos they take are visually appealing.
This unique 'Chinese-style tourism' deeply confuses many foreign friends. They don't understand the significance of this kind of travel. To that end, they even filmed a documentary called 'Chinese Tourists in Paris' in hopes of solving their confusion, but after watching it, they felt even more perplexed.
Because in the documentary, the Chinese people seem incredibly busy, constantly rushing from one attraction to another. At each site, they would perform familiar poses for photos, and then quickly continue their journey. The reason for this situation arises because these elderly people believe that, after so much effort to travel abroad, they must visit all the local attractions to justify the expensive airfare.
The second thing that confuses foreigners is that Chinese people are extremely enthusiastic about shopping. Shopping has become a 'patent' of the Chinese people, no matter where they travel, they frantically shop. Chinese people are constantly shopping, seeming to think everything is free; they leave countless impressions of 'rich tourists' for foreign visitors.
It is precisely because of this that foreign businesses, upon seeing Chinese tourists, will display their products brightly, because in their perception, Chinese people are their 'money-making machines.' As long as the Chinese are willing to come, nothing will sell.
Furthermore, some countries even specially designed shopping malls for Chinese tourists to completely win the hearts of Chinese tourists.
Finally, what confuses foreigners is that Chinese people always drag a huge suitcase when traveling abroad. They don't understand why they need to bring such a large suitcase on just a short trip. Shouldn't they just bring the essential items? However, Chinese tourists don't think this way; they not only bring a lot of snacks but also a lot of cosmetics and clothes.
The reason for this situation is that Chinese people simply love taking pictures. They believe that when traveling to a place, they must take a lot of beautiful photos to show off, otherwise, the trip is meaningless. And since they want to take beautiful photos, they must change a lot of clothes too.
Travel tips: Actually, when traveling, I suggest everyone just bring essential items. If you bring too much stuff, it will be very cumbersome, and most of the things won't be useful during the trip.
