This Scenic Area in Anhui Province is Really ‘Copying’ – It Thoroughly ‘Copies’ Five Thousand Years of History, Transforming it into a 5A-Level Area

Introduction: The most familiar and stringent categorization of tourist attractions is the National 5A-Level Scenic Area. Its assessment is the most rigorous, highly detailed, and considers many aspects, such as transportation, guides, sanitation, and visitor volume. Therefore, despite China's vast land and rich history, there are not many true 5A-Level scenic areas. There is one National 5A-Level Scenic Area in Anhui Province that has passed its assessment and become a 5A-Level area, but since being designated as a 5A-Level area, it has been consistently questioned, with many saying it's 'copied' into existence. Let's find out what happened.

The Anhui Province's most 'copied' 5A-Level scenic area is Wufensoong Botanic Garden, located in Taohou County, Anqing City, Anhui Province. Before visiting the park, the name 'Wufensoong Botanic Garden' already raised many tourists' suspicions. How could this park claim to be a 'five thousand years' botanical garden? What qualifications does it have to claim 'five thousand years' of historical and cultural heritage?

Of course, these were just suspicions before visiting Wufensoong Botanic Garden. However, after actually visiting the park, another question arises – the 'five thousand years' here are not original; they are 'copied' into existence, resulting in a 5A-Level park.

Firstly, let's understand the initial intention behind Wufensoong Botanic Garden. The park is based on the concept of protecting, inheriting, and developing Chinese folk culture and art, with the goal of creating a 'World Eastern Civilization Art Palace' themed 'Chinese Culture Theme Park.' We learn about the Five Thousand Years of Chinese Civilization from textbooks, but Wufensoong Botanic Garden re-presents five thousand years of Chinese civilization in a three-dimensional way.

The Botanic Garden combines classical Hui style architecture with Suzhou garden styles. The park is divided into ten 'chapters' including the Chinese Hundred Crafts Workshop, the Five Thousand Year Culture Corridor, the Four Art Museums, the Ten-Thousand-Person Performance Art Theater, the Harmony of Heaven and Man Scenic Area, the 'Heavenly Paradise' Scenic Area, the Cliff Carving Scenic Area, the Cultural Anqing Scenic Area, the Jiangnan Culture Scenic Area, and Jiangnan Street – the first street in Anqing. It creatively integrates Chinese culture and art, encompassing figures from the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors down to important historical figures and events from modern China.

What did it 'copy' into the park? At the Botanic Garden, visitors will find a near 1:100 scale reconstruction of Zhang Zeduan's 'Thriving Together on the Qingming Festival,' as well as a god-like copy of the Terracotta Army of Qin Shi Huang. With two thousand square meters of ancient buildings and over 1,800 bronze figure sculptures, it vividly recreates the characteristics of the 360 industries during the Kangxi and Qianlong Dynasties. Tea-Horse Ancient Roads, Chinese filial piety gardens, the Four Great Classical Novels Culture Park, Chinese Love Culture Park, Confucius's Learning, Lao Tzu's Seeking, even the Three Mountains and Five Sacred Peaks have been brought in, it's like copying 'Five Thousand Years' directly.

Regarding the 'copying,' Wufensoong Botanic Garden doesn't shy away from it. It simply uses a three-dimensional, real-scene way to recreate textbook content, moving away from rigid text and into vivid, concrete objects. When visitors are immersed in it, they can 'recover' five thousand years of Chinese civilization, perceive the richness and depth of Chinese culture, and recognize the hardworking and intelligent Chinese people. It's thanks to this original intention and heartfelt 'copying' that the five thousand years of Chinese civilization history are authentically recreated, combined with the passing of hardware and software standards, resulting in a National 5A-Level Scenic Area.

How do you view Wufensoong Botanic Garden – this 'copied' National 5A-Level Scenic Area?
