AttentionTianyuan Mountain will shrink, Juwei Mountain will expand

On March 16th, the Taiyuan City Planning and Natural Resources Bureau publicized the ‘Overall Planning Outline of Jinci-Tianyuan Mountain Scenic and Historic Area’ and ‘Overall Planning Outline of Juwei Mountain Scenic and Historic Area.’ The total area of these two scenic areas will be reduced and slightly increased, respectively.
Jinci-Tianyuan Mountain and Juwei Mountain Scenic and Historic Areas were established in 1987 and 2011, respectively, and are provincial scenic areas of cultural and natural heritage type.
This planning takes the core values of the scenic area’s humanities and natural landscapes as its fundamental basis, maintains the integrity of the regional river basin ecological unit as its basic principle, uses natural ecological protection space as its base. Combining the development of the Xishan area and the current land use situation, it determines the core scenic area and its overall range boundary.
The total area of the Jinci-Tianyuan Mountain Scenic and Historic Area is defined as 115.38 square kilometers, with the core scenic area being 37.24 square kilometers; the total area has decreased compared to its establishment, mainly reducing areas such as the pre-mountain urban development zone, agricultural production areas, and other spaces with less connection to the scenic area.
The area of the Juwei Mountain Scenic and Historic Area is defined as 164.74 square kilometers, with the core scenic area being 53.81 square kilometers; the total area has slightly increased compared to its establishment, mainly increasing areas to adjust the local space of the complete basin ecological unit.
