In March, when everything is flourishing, hotels are actively expanding takeout business, orderly restoring dine-in, pre-selling buffet vouchers and guest rooms... Recently, many hotels in Xiamen City have proactively adjusted their business strategies to welcome the recovery of the tourism market. Ctrip data shows that the sales volume of hotel pre-booking products in Xiamen has increased by more than 10 times in the past two weeks, with a peak of nearly 20 times. SM City Square, Xiamen Railway Station, Zhongshan Road, Island Ring Road and Jimei University Village are currently hot hotel booking areas.
Trying Out Takeout to Promote Specialty Meal Consumption
Yesterday, the kitchen of Xiamen Airlines Jin Yan Hotel was busy preparing lunch meals. The finished meals were packed into takeout boxes, and 'food safety cards' were attached to each box, detailing the names and temperatures of the production, preparation, and transportation personnel.
‘We started offering takeout meal packages starting on the third day of the New Year, and published information through WeChat Moments, which has a considerable demand.’ Xiamen Airlines Jin Yan Hotel General Manager Pan Guihong introduced that the takeout mainly offered home-style dishes, which were only about 15 in number originally, but now there are nearly 100 varieties, which are very popular. Through takeout, the hotel can earn several ten thousand yuan every day, and the highest one day reached nearly 100 thousand yuan.
Ligang Hotel recently launched specialty takeout meal packages ranging from 38 to 48 yuan, offering them to office workers around the surrounding office buildings. Starting from February 20th, the hotel resumed dine-in for early and late tea hours based on the implementation of safety protection measures.
Hotel Pre-booking Helps Boost Tourism Economic Recovery
According to a recent report released by iResearch, the hotel tourism industry has entered the ‘thawing period’, with consumption of catering, local and nearby tours, and 30-year-olds and below expected to be the first to recover tourism spending. Recently, many star-rated hotels in Xiamen City seized the opportunity to launch online and offline multi-channel room bookings, buffet vouchers and pre-booking, with small price discounts.
‘Considering the inconvenience for guests who stayed in the hotel in terms of dining, we launched a package offering three meals with a room discount.’ Ligang Hotel Hotel Sales Director Deng Haijun introduced that the sea view room with an original price of 1000 yuan is now only 790 yuan, with three meals included, in order to attract more tourists.
As the pace of tourism recovery accelerates, more out-of-province tourists also have the idea of ‘stocking hotels’. Some online travel platforms also seized this business opportunity and cooperated with hotels to launch promotional packages – such as Ctrip’s bundled hotel and nearby products, the 2-night themed family room package at Xiamen Yuehua Hotel with a original price of 2272 yuan was pre-sold for only 929 yuan. Haiyushan Hotel, Xiamen International Conference Center Hotel and Gulangyu Li Jia Zhuang Hotel’s 2-night room package with an original price of 2000 yuan were pre-sold at a special price of 999 yuan.
In addition to rooms, many hotels are also actively expanding food pre-booking. Two days ago, Xiamen Tourism Hotel Online Platform ‘StayInn’ jointly launched the ‘199 yuan 4 pieces of 8-inch cakes’ seasonal cake card product with Westin Hotel, 8000 products were snapped up in just 3 hours, and the turnover exceeded 2 million yuan. A few days ago, Xiamen Tianyuan Hotel launched a 99 yuan self-service meal pre-sale promotion activity, which sold over ten thousand copies in just 2 hours.
‘The apparent rise in consumption reflects citizens' and tourists' confidence and expectations for the recovery of the catering and tourism industries.’ A tourism industry insider in Xiamen believes that tourism consumption has become a ‘need’, and this long-term positive trend will not change.
