Be Like Grass – Strive for Steadfastness

Mediocre people dwell on the immediate scenery, indulge in mundane luxuries, and eventually forget the journey, content with their complacency and self-congratulation, ultimately achieving nothing. Excellent people walk alone in the silent hours, enduring tranquility and loneliness without complaint or lament, climbing to heights others aspire to through hard work and dedication.

If you are unfortunate, you must bear it yourself. Comfort may be lacking, and you must become strong on your own. When you haven't the means to clothe yourself or feed yourself and look around for relatives, we have no right to mourn; we can still write happiness endlessly. When you can laugh at yourself instead of laughing at others, you are mature; when you find it more valuable to keep a secret than to reveal it, you are mature.

Be like grass – stay modest! Even if ordinary, you have your own personality; even if small, you have your own color. Grow strong with humility, and live modestly. Don't compete with tall trees or compare yourself to beautiful flowers; have your own stance and character, withstand the wind and rain.
The most difficult thing in the world is to remain still amidst the commotion, to remain true to your purpose in the face of temptation. Don't be rigid, stay still, it's not to stop progress, nor to abandon your principles; it also doesn't preclude looking to the future. Calmness isn't dullness; silence doesn't mean compromise.
