Cherish those who come, and let go of those who depart.

There's a kind of understanding called cherishing, a kind of romance called simplicity, and a kind of happiness called plainness. Life needs more contemplation, less confusion. It needs more calmness, less worry. It needs more tolerance, less narrow-mindedness. It needs more acceptance, less regret. A simple heart brings a happy life, and happiness grows.

If the heart is calm, one can step on lotus flowers with each step. A clear heart illuminates everything, a clouded heart obscures everything. A foolish heart is lost in delusion, a wise heart understands enlightenment. The heart is the director of life's drama; thought is the backdrop of life's scenes. The roots of all things lie within the heart; obsession, resentment, and hatred only cause the heart to churn and bring unrest. Only by letting them go can one be relaxed and natural. Wisdom and foolishness are separated by the heart; heaven and hell are just a thought away. Letting go of worries leads to enlightenment; a change of thought brings a clear sky.

Those who arrive should cherish them, and those who depart should let go. Life is a journey – not everyone will go to the same place. The beauty of encounters along the way is always beautiful, and the sadness of farewell stations is always desolate. Whether joy or sorrow, those who must leave will eventually arrive. Life's journey is mostly solitary. Cherish what you have, and letting go of what you don't. Believe in the future.
