Korean Army Pot Recipe – Ready in 10 Minutes

Premium Lazy Korean Army Pot Meal

Monday started with rain and a drop in temperature, feeling a bit cold and damp in the office. Suddenly, I wanted something hot and comforting.

Like what you find in Korean restaurants – bubbling, spicy broth with cheese noodles, luncheon meat, and crab sticks!

Let's do it! It's so simple, even a kitchen idiot can make it, and you’ll never mess it up. Here's a simple army pot.

It has three steps:

  • 1. First, make the sauce with Korean chili sauce, sugar, etc.
  • 2. Prepare the vegetables and meat ingredients, wash and cut them into pieces and put them into the pot.
  • 3. Pour hot water into the pot and bring it to a boil in 3 minutes, then add the noodles and cheese, and an egg – you're ready to eat!

The Main CharacterChoose the best Kimchi – from Jonggakfu.Optional: sliced or whole Kimchi.

Cut the red bell pepper and onion into segments, and add them to the pot, surrounded by Kimchi. Prepare the vegetables and meat, wash and cut them into pieces, and arrange them in a circle around the pot.

Step2 Easy Homemade Sauce for Everyone to Make

The soul of the army pot is the sauce and broth. The sauce is super easy to make.

Mix together 4 tablespoons of Korean chili sauce, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 tablespoon of minced garlic, and one Shin Ramyun seasoning packet.

Use a spoon to mix the sauce evenly, pour it into the pot, and add water to cover the ingredients.

Wait 3 minutes, the broth starts to boil, a fiery and spicy broth. Take a mouthful now x1.

Put a Shin Ramyun noodle sheet into the pot. Cook for 3 minutes. Use chopsticks to test if the noodles are cooked through. Shin Ramyun retains its flavor and becomes more fragrant as you cook it longer!

Add a slice of cheese on top of the noodles. The cheese adds a milky flavor and can also neutralize the spiciness.

Then add an egg – the army pot is complete!

Rich and spicy, the cheese wraps around the noodles, and the broth is intensely flavorful and delicious.

Luncheon meat and crab sticks soak up the broth, completely ‘drinking’ it. You can also add fish balls, fish cakes, octopus balls, etc.

The rice cakes (tteok) are a surprise – they become chewy when cooked.

Advanced Tips for Ramen

  • Don't overcook the rice cakes, and stir them occasionally to prevent sticking. Shin Ramyun is a good choice, but you can also use Unni Tteok. Recommend Spam for luncheon meat.
  • If you want a more authentic Korean broth, try adding small silverfish. Add a little soju to the sauce.
  • Here's a delicious drama to recommend – ‘Let’s Eat Together’

  • The female lead says, ‘The best way to eat an army pot is to scoop a mouthful of hot broth and pour it over rice.’ It’s really down to taste – this spicy broth is really good with rice! This lazy army pot is almost the same as what you get in a Korean restaurant – simple and fast. It’s great for a solo meal or for gatherings with friends and family.“”~
