Adorable 'Killers'! This Panda Brazenly 'Damaged Public Property'
On April 9th, staff of the Sichuan Qifangshan Nature Reserve discovered four amazing moments of giant panda activity while collecting and sorting data from wild infrared cameras.

The video shows one panda sitting quietly in the snow, resembling a monk in meditation; another slowly approaches the camera and shyly covers it; and the third panda lies leisurely in the snow, playing contentedly and adorably.

Chief of the Patrol Monitoring Team of the Sichuan Qifangshan Nature Reserve, Hu Gaiyun, said:These three monitoring points are located at 00, 01, and 04 numbers, with altitudes between 2500 and 2800 meters. The three monitoring points are spaced 2 to 3 kilometers apart, so we analyzed that the pandas captured at these three points are different individuals.

The Sichuan Qifangshan Nature Reserve covers an area of 11083 hectares and is an important part of the Panda National Park. The reserve protects 62 national key protected plants and animals, including 15 national first-class protected species such as giant pandas and golden monkeys. The reserve selects 30 key and potential panda activity areas and sets up infrared cameras, collecting data from the cameras every 3-5 months.

Hu Gaiyun introduced that after the Sichuan Qifangshan Nature Reserve first captured videos of giant pandas with their mothers in the wild in 2016, there was no data received in 2017 and 2018, and it was a surprise to discover that all three monitoring points' infrared cameras had captured the actual giant pandas during the data collection on April 9th.

By utilizing professional infrared camera data monitoring and professionally analyzing the large amount of wild animal activity images, the reserve can better understand the situation of wild animals in the reserve and formulate targeted protection and management plans.
