UK Nursing Home Invites Penguins to Celebrate 85-Year-Old Resident's Birthday
According to the Birmingham Mail on February 5th, recently, a UK nursing home invited two cute penguins from the zoo to celebrate an elderly person's 85th birthday.
In Bamberton nursing home, Mrs. Mayes Edwards was one of many residents enjoying elderly care services, and before her 85th birthday, she told the nurses that her biggest wish was to see penguins she had never seen before.

In our nimble young years, such a wish may seem insignificant; we just go to the zoo to see penguins.
However, the nursing home team immediately set about trying to fulfill the elderly person's wish. Considering the elderly person's inability to go out, even though she didn't particularly expect to have close contact with penguins at home. On Mrs. Mayes' birthday, the nursing home staff really did invite two penguins to wish her a happy birthday.

Mrs. Mayes was very happy to play with and pet the penguins, and she hugged one of them in her lap.
The two penguins, brought in by an organization called 'Magical Creatures', were used to crowded places and even performed tricks for the elderly.
These penguins came from Slough Zoo in the UK, where they usually lived in a special enclosure, including a swimming pool, pebble beach, and penguin house.
The penguin birthday visit came from part of the nursing home's 'Wishing Tree' initiative, which encourages elderly people to make wishes and to rediscover their hobbies and to contact new things.
The nursing home manager said: 'In our nursing home, we are always willing to double our efforts for the elderly to make their dreams come true, no matter how unusual the wishes are.'
