Oriental White Storks Hatching Babies on High-Voltage Towers

White Stork Hatching

White Stork Baby Looked Up
Recently, in Changchang Village, Gaozhou, a high-voltage tower, the Oriental White Stork hatched baby birds, attracting many bird friends to 'stargaze'. Last year, a nest of Oriental White Storks in Changchang Village hatched 5 white stork babies, becoming 'celebrities', and Changchang Village was thus called 'Stork Village'.
Bird friend Mei Guangde said that this year, there are not many Oriental White Storks in Changchang Village, he has already discovered 3 Oriental White Stork nests here, one in the south of the village, and two others in the north of the village. Currently, one nest has hatched white stork babies, and the other two nests have Oriental White Stork parents waiting inside. 'This village is located near Gaozhou Lake, suitable for Oriental White Storks to forage.'
For bird friends, it is not easy to take pictures of White Stork babies. Because they are just hatched, most of the time they are lying in the nest, and the nest is on a high-voltage tower, which increases the difficulty of photography.
Every spring, when the flowers bloom, Oriental White Storks are in their breeding season in Gaozhou. After a long period of waiting, Mei Guangde finally took a photo of a White Stork baby lifting its head.
'I estimate that in about 10 days, White Stork babies will stretch their heads out.' Mei Guangde said that when they do, it will be easier to take pictures.
White Stork babies can usually practice flying near the nest after about 50 days of birth, and at this time, it is also the harvest season in Yangzhou. When the young birds' flying ability becomes better, they will migrate with their parents to the north.
Oriental White Storks are a national level protected animal. Last year, the number of Oriental White Storks bred in Gaozhou exceeded 60. This year, the number of Oriental White Storks coming to Gaozhou to breed is more, and it is expected that more White Stork babies will be born. Reporter Xiang Jiafu Photography Mei Guangde
