Spring River Warms, the Little Wild Duck from Yitong River Returns

Su Shi’s poems of the Song Dynasty mention peach blossoms by the bamboo outside, and the spring river reveals the ducks’ first knowledge. Although we haven’t found the traces of peach blossoms in Changchun now, a large number of wild ducks have returned at the intersection of Yitong River and Nan Four Rings, and the little fellows are flying and foraging, and enjoying the spring.

Groups of wild ducks not only attract nearby residents to watch, but also attract many photographers who specially come. Ms. Xiao said, ‘I’ve been coming for about three years. Because these are migrating ducks, they come every season in March, and the Yitong River is getting better and better now, and the ducks are coming more and more.’

Photographer Ms. Xiao:

‘I’ve been coming for about three years. Because these are migrating ducks, they come every season in March, and the Yitong River is getting better and better now, and the ducks are coming more and more.’

It is reported that the comprehensive ecological governance of the Yitong River was officially launched in 2016, and it has been nearly 4 years now. Now, these ducks have gradually become permanent residents of Changchun, living with us.

Yitong River Management and Disaster Prevention Center staff member Nie Tianpu:

‘When this place had not so many wild animals in 2017, through the entire governance in 2017, the middle section of the Yitong River basically achieved the completion target, and by the spring of 2018, wild animals such as Oriental White Storks and wild ducks gradually appeared here, and they returned.’

Currently, these ducks have built nests on the Yitong River, and we hope everyone will come together to protect their habitat.
