Orcas Can Kill Great White Sharks, Why Are They So Friendly to Humans? Or, Why Humans Disappeared 130,000 Years Ago

In nature, humans can be considered a relatively weak animal. We have neither a large size nor great strength; we have no sharp teeth as weapons, nor great speed to chase prey. The reason why humans can survive to this day is closely related to our wisdom.

Humans can be called the smartest creatures on Earth, we rely on our brains to survive. Most other animals in nature have their unique physical advantages. For example, a very intelligent animal in the ocean - Orca.

Orcas can kill great white sharks.

Orcas are a dominant creature in the ocean. Its size is five times larger than the ferocious great white sharks, and its mouth has dozens of sharp teeth. In the ocean, orcas even prey on great white sharks. Moreover, orcas are very intelligent animals. Its IQ is equivalent to a 10-year-old child's IQ.

Precisely because of this ferocious animal, it is extremely friendly to humans.

In the last century, there was a very famous orca named Old Tom. With its super high IQ, it collaborated with human fishermen. Old Tom drove the sperm whale into humans' ambush circles, and after being captured by humans, the fishermen gave this orca a reward by providing its internal organs and tongue.

Moreover, many humans who were drowned by orcas were rescued by orcas. There was a report that a tourist was attacked by a great white shark while swimming on the beach, and then a group of orcas drove this great white shark away and continued to protect this human until it reached the shore. These kings of the sea also like to play with humans, just like dolphins.

Why such a ferocious orca is so friendly to humans? Scientists have put forward two hypotheses about this.

The first hypothesis may be that orcas realize human wisdom and strength, so they are afraid of humans. Plus, they find it easier to cooperate with humans to hunt.

Another hypothesis is related to the history of human evolution. According to human current research, there has been no fossil appearing from 200,000 years to 70,000 years ago. It seems that humans disappeared as if they had vanished in 130,000 years.

Some scientists guess that perhaps human ancestors lived in the ocean in this 130,000 years. This is of course not just a wild guess by scientists, but there is some basis. For example, a large number of shells and marine debris were found in prehistoric human ruins; DHA needed for human brain development is common in marine animals; and many of human characteristics are similar to marine mammals, such as humans have subcutaneous fat, women in humans stop menstruating at a certain age, which does not happen in primates, but happens in marine mammals.

If human ancestors really came from the ocean, perhaps they had very close foundations with orcas in the ocean, which may be the reason why orcas are so friendly to humans.

However, this friendly creature is not only slaughtered by humans but also captured by humans and put into aquariums to entertain humans. According to animal scientists, almost all orcas used for animal performances in aquariums have severe depression.

This depression can sometimes make these orcas have strong aggression and even kill humans. But in the wild, there has never been a record of orcas harming humans. Moreover, orcas in aquariums generally have health problems and their lifespan is shorter than in the wild. For example, the orcas we see in aquariums most of their dorsal fins are downturned, while in the wild they are upright.

In fact, not only orcas but also animals that are trained to be used for animal performances have had very sad experiences. What makes humans feel at ease to do such cruel things?

Please let people who see this article care about wild animals and refuse animal performances!
