Dozens of Dolphins Form a Group Playing in Qiongzhou Strait
On March 10th at 11:20 am, a patrol boat of the Haikou Maritime Search and Rescue Center detected a large number of dolphins leaping in the Qiongzhou Strait, approximately 5 meters ahead of the bow. The boat commander immediately ordered a reduced speed and organized personnel to closely observe.

After observation, about 60 to 70 dolphins were present in the area, some dolphins leaping out of the water and soaring into the air, skimming the waves and blooming; others gracefully appeared and disappeared, lingering in the water; some floated and chased shadows, playing and diving playfully……

According to reports, the area where the dolphin group appeared was near the shipping channel, which was highly susceptible to being crushed by passing ships. To ensure the safety of the dolphin group, the boat decided to reduce speed and escort them to a safe area, which took about 1 hour.

Dolphins are a key protected aquatic wild animal. Protecting dolphins is of great significance to maintaining marine biodiversity and ecological balance. The Haikou Maritime Search and Rescue Center appeals to all fishermen: if you accidentally catch aquatic wild animals such as dolphins during fishing operations, you should immediately release them unconditionally. If you find anyone capturing, killing, selling, purchasing, or trafficking national key protected aquatic wild animals or their products, please stop it immediately and report it to the maritime authorities.
