China Tibet Net News, March 6th, 19:00 Xinhua reported that Damba Forest Public Security Police received an alarm call from citizens that a wild animal was injured in Bukou Village, Geshizha Town, Danba County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Region, Sichuan Province. Public security police rushed to the scene and found a 'lost' wild animal trapped in the embankment under the bridge, about 200 meters away. Citizens and police jointly rescued the wild animal. After identification, this wild animal is a markhor, which is listed in the IUCN 2015 Red List of Threatened Species ver3.1 – Vulnerable (VU) and also listed in the 'Catalogue of Wild Animals of Auxiliary or Important Economic and Scientific Research Value in China'.
The police brought the markhor to the Damba Forest Public Security Wildlife Rescue Center for a detailed examination and provided simple treatment for the slight skin wound in its mouth.
On March 7th, the police drove it 'escorted' 30 kilometers outside the city to Yongzhong Ridge Nature Reserve and then released it into the forest!

The photo shows the rescued markhor looking back at the police after being released.
It's interesting that after the police released the markhor, it became particularly friendly and its wildness was reduced a lot. It ran a few meters, looked back at the police, and then ran a few meters again, then looked back at the police, and finally the 'little elf' slowly disappeared into the bushes!
In recent years, Danba County has strengthened the protection of natural forest resources, expanded the area of animal habitats, and the ecological environment has been improved. Animals such as black-necked cranes, red pandas, and parrots are also increasing in number and population.
Danba County Public Security Bureau also extended special thanks to the lovely and enthusiastic citizens. (China Tibet Net News, Correspondent/G)
