Lion Couple Fall in Love at First Sight! After 12 Years Together, the Male Lion Passes Away 10 Days Later, and the Female Lion Follows Him to Heaven
Love arises spontaneously and flows deeply. The living can die, and the dead can live. When we are alive, we live for love. Now that you have left, I cannot bear to live on. When I find you, let us be reborn for love. Such a beautiful love story could also happen to a pair of lion couples.

Lion couple Zanda and Isis were sent to Brookfield Zoo in 2008, and they were instantly drawn to each other from the first meeting and lived together soon after. These lions have been very loving over the years, and they have always been inseparable. They often give a 'lion feed' to the keepers and visitors, sometimes grooming each other, sometimes cuddling together to sleep, even when sleeping, Zanda would gently lean his paw on his wife's body.

However, in December 2019, Zanda suddenly became seriously ill. Because of the pain, he could hardly walk or stand, and he moved very slowly. The zoo treated him and gave him pain medication to relieve the pain. But on January 2nd, his condition suddenly deteriorated rapidly. Zanda was too old, and his spine had several severe deteriorations, so he could not undergo surgery. Finally, the zoo had to say goodbye with tears to euthanize Zanda.
On January 13th, Isis, heartbroken after losing her husband, was found lying motionless on the ground. After an examination by the veterinarian, it was speculated that she had fallen from a height and become paralyzed. Although Isis immediately accepted treatment, the injury was too serious, and unfortunately, her brain suffered severe damage. The zoo also had to euthanize Isis to reduce her pain.

The zoo staff said that Isis's physical condition had always been good. She suddenly fell from a height, which was likely because of Zanda's death, and greatly affected Isis. The staff also said that after being with her husband for 12 years, Isis had become very irritable and restless. Sometimes she would roar frequently, calling for her husband and hoping Zanda would appear in front of her.

But after several days of calling, she realized that her husband would not return, and she began to seek comfort from the keepers. Perhaps because of excessive grief, Isis felt physically and mentally exhausted. When she was walking on high places, because of her confused mind, she ignored the surroundings and therefore fell.
Although the staff expressed their regret for such an accident, perhaps for Isis, it was also a relief, at least she could go to heaven to find her husband. In that wonderful place, there was no pain, and they could continue to accompany each other forever.
