January 22, 2020, the Chinese autumn teal (Chinese autumn duck), a national-level key protected animal, was found inhabiting and foraging in the waters of Nanxi River in Yongjia County, Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province.
The Chinese autumn teal is an ancient species left over from the end of the third Ice Age, listed as a critically endangered species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), and a first-class protected wild animal in China, often referred to as the 'bird equivalent of the giant panda'.
In recent years, Yongjia County, Wenzhou, has continuously strengthened its ecological and environmental construction, with water quality constantly improving, a beautiful environment, and clean water, with abundant fish, shrimp, and aquatic insects, which is very suitable for the Chinese autumn teal to forage and inhabit.
