Giant Panda Cub Dies from Strangulation Due to Climbing Rope
According to @China Giant Panda Protection Research Center, on April 9, 2020, the giant panda cub 'Lu Lu Zi' (born on August 10, 2019, female) died of strangulation due to the climbing rope wrapping around its neck at the Shenshiping Base. At around 2:00 AM on the 9th, 'Lu Lu Zi' climbed alone to a wooden frame with hanging toys in the outdoor playground of the Shenshiping Base Kindergarten and then wrapped the rope of the hanging toy around its body, beginning to struggle. Within a few minutes, the cub stopped struggling and unfortunately died. Due to the late night incident and the difficulty in distinguishing the cub's entangled posture from the resting posture on the wooden frame, the night patrol personnel failed to discover the abnormality.
