Frequent Sightings, Wild Giant Pandas Found in Tangjiahe
On April 9th, reporters learned from the Provincial Forestry and Grassland Bureau that on April 7th, staff at the Tangjiahe Nature Reserve discovered fresh giant panda activity tracks during monitoring operations in the Moutain Peak area. A giant panda was happily munching on bamboo in the bamboo grove. Staff members slowly approached, recording precious image data.

In the video, the giant panda first stared adorably at the staff, possibly sensing the staff's 'coveting,' and let out a series of roars to declare its territorial sovereignty.
According to reports, the area has an altitude of about 2300 meters, consisting of coniferous-broadleaf mixed forests with abundant Sichuan fir. Staff members stated that they had never seen such a large wild giant panda, with a weight of at least 90-100 kilograms. In subsequent monitoring and investigation, a total of three different giant pandas were found to have left fecal matter in the area.

Just one day apart, staff at the Tangjiahe White Fruit Bank Protection Station discovered two giant pandas in the Paper Factory Gorge (located at an altitude of 2240 meters) in the Moutain Peak area. After observation, they were preliminarily judged to be a mother and her cub. The cubs were resting on the trees in the bamboo grove, while the mother guarded and monitored the ground bamboo grove. Unfortunately, due to the dense growth of Sichuan fir, it was impossible to capture a shot of the two giant pandas together. Subsequently, staff collected samples of fresh giant panda fecal matter for further DNA detection.

Tangjiahe Nature Reserve belongs to the Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Giant Panda National Park, Guangyuan Branch, and the area preserves intact natural ecosystems, which is a concentrated distribution area for rare and endangered wild animals and plants. The area has abundant biological resources, including national key protected plants such as Red Pine, Silver Fir, Ginkgo, Fruiting Tree, and Sichuan Elm; and national key protected animals such as Giant Panda, Sichuan Golden Monkey, Twist-Horned Antelope, Green-Tailed Rainbow Pheasant, and Spotted Hazel Hen.
