It's Time for Migratory Birds to Return North; Gray Cranes Dance in a Graceful Manner
The weather is getting warmer, and migratory birds are returning north. Recently, a large number of gray cranes have come to seek food and play in the town of Shiziba Township. The nearby fields and distant snow mountains echo with the dancing gray cranes, creating a beautiful picture of harmony between humans and nature.
On March 31st, reporter captured beautiful scene of gray cranes flying in Baiyanghe Village, which is about 30 kilometers away from the county seat. In the fields, villager Nu'erhaizi Yi is feeding gray cranes with corn. Nu'erhaizi Yi introduced that in recent days, many flocks of gray cranes have been foraging in the fields. Seeing so many migratory birds coming, many villagers have taken out corn grains to feed the gray cranes.
Nu'erhaizi Yi said“Gray cranes are national grade two protected animals, giving them corn in the fields, we also contribute, for harmonious coexistence between man and nature.”
Gray cranes are a secondary protected animal of the country, with a wide habitat range, preferring wet land, swamps and shallow lakes, feeding on aquatic plants, tender shoots, wild grass seeds, grains, insects and aquatic animals. They mainly reproduce in Northeast and Northwest China. Shiziba Township is located in the southern foothills of Tian Shan in Huiyou County, with abundant forest resources, with mountains, springs, forests and rivers reflecting each other. In recent years, with the continuous improvement of the ecological environment, Shiziba Township has welcomed a large number of gray cranes every spring.
Shiziba Township Forest Station Nuriguli Dauguleti said“We combine scientific winter training and utilize the agricultural off-season to promote the Wildlife Protection Law and Forest Law. Our understanding of wildlife protection has improved compared to before.”
In recent years, Huiyou County has implemented zoning and demarcation in key wildlife distribution areas and habitats, clarifying protection responsibilities, and comprehensively strengthened wildlife protection. Especially in large-scale wintering, breeding and migration channels, the establishment of encrypted protection observation posts and patrol routes, and increased the intensity of outdoor patrol and supervision, and publicity, resulting in a significant increase in wild animals locally.
County Natural Resources Bureau Forest Protection Section Forestry Engineer Tang Yingchun said“The environmental governance has been very good in recent years.
