A Red Sika Deer Unexpectedly Enters a Farmer's Home

A red deer trespassing into a farmer's home was rescued by police.
Gwong Yau Daily News reports (by full-media reporter Buke Yu, correspondents Lai Jin Yan, Liao Xiang Rong, and Tan Ben Lin, photography by reporters) The previous day, a wild animal suspected to be an adult red deer trespassed into a household in Maiping Village, Shanggan City, Xinxing County. The villagers discovered it and immediately called the police. Officers from the local police station and the jurisdiction's forest police bureau arrived and, together with them, they released it back into the mountains.
This red deer (locally known as Huang Qian) weighed approximately 20 jin (about 44 pounds), it entered the farmer's home on its own accord, with no obvious injuries and in good condition. After capturing it, they placed it in a bag and then released it to Shangtai Linchang (Shangtai Deer Farm). When the bag's rope was untied, it quickly disappeared into the forest.
It is reported that red deer is the largest species in the deer family, with an average body length of about 1 meter and a tail length of 17-21 centimeters, with a weight of 25-30 kilograms. This animal, resembling a small deer in appearance, has cautious habits, often foraging at night or in the early morning, and hides during the day in dense shrubs. It typically lives in low-altitude mountain areas, in forests and hills, feeding on young shoots, leaves, flowers, fruits, and crops. Red deer is listed in China's 2000-released 'Catalogue of Wild Animals of Merited Conservation Value'.
