3 Oriental White Storks Receive New 'Mothers'

This reporter (reporter Yu Hong) reported that the bird mother died, and the bird father guarded the bird nest, watching the 3 young birds gasp for air. This was an unfortunate incident for the Oriental White Stork, a national-level protected animal. At the critical moment, the wild protection personnel promptly sent the young birds to the Jiangxi Provincial Forestry Research Institute’s Wild Animal and Plant Rescue and Breeding Center. The center staff played the role of ‘mother’, and through careful treatment, the young birds were brought back to life.

From the description of the wild protection station staff, we initially judged that the bird father couldn’t nurture 3 young birds, and ordinary people couldn’t take care of this precious national treasure. Only we could come and be ‘mothers’, taking care of them. “On April 2nd, the person in charge of the Jiangxi Provincial Forestry Research Institute’s Wild Animal and Plant Rescue and Breeding Center, Wang Zhi Ru, introduced to reporters, ‘If there were no human interventions to foster, the 3 young birds would starve to death, which would be a great loss.’

The ‘mothers’ were on duty since 8:21 PM on April 1st. A few hours ago, the Jiangxi Provincial Forestry Research Institute’s Wild Animal and Plant Rescue and Breeding Center received a report from the Wan Yan Wild Protection Station staff, narrating the unfortunate encounter of the Oriental White Stork family on a high-pressure tower in Wan Yan Zi Pu Town, Mang Cheng Le Ping I Return Line. “The Oriental White Stork’s nest was first discovered by the inspection division of the Jiangxi Provincial Power Company. On March 30th, inspectors Yang Zhi Guang and his colleagues inspected the high-pressure tower on Mang Cheng Le Ping I Return Line when they found a nest. “Through drone shooting, they discovered that it was an Oriental White Stork’s nest, and there was an adult bird motionless inside. At first, they thought it was incubating young birds. When they returned to the unit and carefully reviewed the video, they realized it was wrong, so they reported it to the Wan Yan Wild Protection Station. ”Yang Zhi Guang said.

“The wild protection station received the report and dispatched staff to climb the tower, where they found that the adult bird had died for several days, and one adult bird was guarding the nest, and the young birds were in a worrying condition. ”Zhang Li Jun, the station director of the Wan Yan Wild Protection Station, introduced. “On March 31st, we took the deceased adult bird, and on April 1st, after video communication with the staff of the Jiangxi Provincial Forestry Research Institute’s Wild Animal and Plant Rescue and Breeding Center, we considered that the 3 young birds needed to be sent to the center for treatment. ”

On April 2nd, the reporter saw at the Jiangxi Provincial Forestry Research Institute’s Wild Animal and Plant Rescue and Breeding Center that after the ‘mothers’ meticulous care, the 3 young birds gradually recovered their strength, and 2 of them were able to eat small fish and shrimp by themselves. “The deceased adult bird was dissected and determined to be the bird mother, and was sent to Jiangxi Agricultural University for screening the cause of death. The young birds are only over a month old and need careful care. ”Wang Zhi Ru told reporters, ‘Artificial intervention fostering is definitely not as good as the wild, but we these ‘mothers’ will take care of them until they can be released back into the wild.’
