Yantai Baoguan International Convention and Tourism Center Project Groundbreaking; Yantai Area to Commence Construction of Luxury Hotel Cluster

Jiaodong Online, March 16th, (Correspondent Xia Sheng) “Constructing a star-hotel cluster, including Westin hotels, Hyatt Jiaxuan hotels, and Yasukan hotels, with over 1200 hotel rooms and guest rooms……” On the morning of March 16th, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Yantai Baoguan International Convention and Tourism Center project in the Yantai Area of the (China) Free Trade Zone took place. With a command, the 54 billion yuan investment project, including the International Convention Center, star-hotel cluster, and tourism sharing center, officially commenced construction. Upon completion, it will become a new landmark on Yantai’s golden coastal strip and Yantai’s new brand name for convention and tourism.According to reports, the total investment in the International Convention and Tourism Center project is 54 billion yuan, including the International Convention Center and Tourism Culture Center. The building area reaches 550,000 square meters. The International Convention Center is arranged according to the exhibition area and conference area. The exhibition area has 8 exhibition halls and 3299 exhibition booths, and the conference area is arranged with a large multifunctional hall (which also serves as a large theater), small and medium-sized conference rooms and more than 30 others, capable of accommodating 4000 people simultaneously. The Tourism Culture Center mainly builds a star-hotel cluster and a tourism sharing center. The star-hotel cluster includes 6 independent buildings, including Westin Hotel, Hyatt Jiaxuan Hotel and Yasukan Hotel, with 1200 guest rooms. The tourism sharing center includes independent buildings such as commercial complexes, pedestrian streets, office buildings and apartments.

According to a spokesperson for the Yantai Baoguan International Talent Port, the project is a key construction project in the Yantai Area of the Free Trade Zone and the Baoguan Central Innovation District. Baoguan Central Innovation District is one of the city’s key construction “Nine Sectors,” with a planning area of 14.2 square kilometers and three main sectors: Central Business District, Science and Technology Innovation District, Convention and Tourism District. Currently, the innovation zone has signed in and settled Harbin Engineering University Yantai Research Institute, Yantai University, Shandong Architecture University and China Academy of Sciences - Lianhua Institute of Biology and Research, Advanced Materials and Green Manufacturing Shandong Provincial Laboratory, Huawei (Yantai) Artificial Intelligence Innovation Center, Shandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences Innovation Center, and other high-end scientific research projects. The in-construction projects have all been resumed, with the main structure of Harbin Engineering University Yantai Research Institute completed and scheduled to be put into use in August, and the Shandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences Innovation Center will be completed in the year, and it is expected that in 5-10 years, Baoguan Central Innovation District will be built into a zone of integrating talent cultivation, scientific research and innovation, entrepreneurship, convention and tourism, leisure and vacation, as an innovation district, talent city, convention city, vibrant bay, continuing to enhance Yantai’s core competitiveness for high-quality development.
