Famous San Francisco Cable Cars!
Dear friends, hello everyone, I'm Meixi Zhiguang, and I'm very happy to see you again today. I'm here to introduce a famous tourist attraction in San Francisco, USA, called the Cable Car.
The name 'Cable Car' comes from the fact that its power source is a groove in the middle of two tracks, with a continuously rotating steel cable inside. The cable car relies on gripping and releasing this cable to power the cable car.
The San Francisco Cable Car has a long history and now has three sightseeing routes. At the terminal station, people waiting for the cable car are queuing up in droves.
Passengers can either sit inside the cable car or stand beside it, holding onto the railings – it's quite scary!
The Cable Car's main station, also known as the Cable Car Machine Room, is located within Chinatown, San Francisco. It's called the San Francisco Cable Car, Cable Car Museum. If you're curious and interested in cable cars, you can visit this museum.
Before the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, cable cars were actually the most important means of transportation in San Francisco. However, during the earthquake, many underground tracks were damaged. To promote tourism in San Francisco, three routes were eventually restored.
Mei Xi Zhiguang thanks you for watching. We'll see you next time.
