These Two Imposing Statues: One in Shanxi, the Other in Sichuan
The two most imposing statues in China: one is located in Shanxi, and the other in Sichuan. The Shanxi one is the 'Guandi Sacred Image'.
Located 13 kilometers southwest of Yancheng City's Changping Village in Shanxi, it is currently the tallest and largest Guandi Sacred Image. The statue stands 80 meters tall (copper body 61 meters high, symbolizing Guandi's 61 years; the base is 19 meters, symbolizing Guandi's 19-year-old marriage and establishing a family).
The Guandi Sacred Image Scenic Area is backed by the Zhongtiaoshan Mountain to the north and the Yilanhua Lake to the south, covering an area of over 4000 acres, divided into two parts: a human landscape zone centered around Guandi, and the Shiban Gou Natural Scenic Area.
The human landscape zone consists of 'Six Roads', namely the Martial Saint Avenue, the Sacred Image Zone, the Zhongdu Style Zone, the Yi Guantian Zone (Through the Ages), the Qianchui Renjie Zone (Outstanding People), the Three Kingdoms Music Park, and the Management and Reception Zone. The Shiban Gou Natural Scenic Area includes Guandi's Ancestral Tomb. The gorge has majestic mountains on both sides, with protruding edges and peculiar landforms, with abundant wildness, forming a spectacular mountain landscape of strange rocks, waterfalls, turquoise ponds, and hidden valleys. The 'Shilu Pool' and 'Three-sided Mountain' (three sides surrounded by mountains) gather the feng shui of the three sides, lifting Guandi's Ancestral Tomb, which is considered a sacred place where sages are destined to emerge. The Shiban Gou rafting trip is 1.5 kilometers long, starting from the 'Stone Box' reservoir and ending at the back door of the 'Guandi Han Dynasty'.
The Leshan Leshan Giant Buddha in Sichuan is also quite imposing. The Buddha stands on the Yangtze River, with its hands supporting its knees, and its feet naturally drooping downwards, giving a feeling of stability. Leshan Leshan Temple is magnificent in architecture, with a rigorous layout and beautiful scenery. Leshan Leshan Temple has been developed into the 'Leshan Giant Buddha Exhibition Hall', which displays a large number of exhibits, documents, pictures, and models, showcasing the 90-year construction history and the historical preservation and repair of the Leshan Giant Buddha, fully reflecting that the Leshan Giant Buddha is indeed a world artistic treasure.
