Morning Reading | Afternoon Sunlight

The afternoon sunlight streamed through the ferns, falling from the window.
The sunlight warming the body is a delight in winter. It reminded me of the story of Yan Red and his bed, where in the past, a slow-paced agricultural life meant basking in the sun was commonplace; offering a bed was considered inappropriate; now, city dwellers rarely take the trouble to enjoy the sunlight in winter.
Practicing Tai Chi in the sunlight. After writing calligraphy in the morning and taking a nap, feeling refreshed and invigorated, the movements of Tai Chi flowed slowly, like the sunlight itself.
There was a scent of star anise in the room, evoking a sense of tranquility and stability. In life, survival comes first, and being able to survive is about living life well. If one goes further, it's about seeking the meaning of life or realizing oneself. It's a rare opportunity to have a period of life without material worries or distractions from necessary business, to do what one wants to do, and to strive to make things new every day, as the ancients said. Relaxing and basking in the sunlight, freely and without desire.
Like Lu Xun's 'Picking Wild Wisteria,' where Bori advised his uncle Ziqi to rarely go out and speak little, and practicing Tai Chi was a good idea; and Uncle Ziqi's inability to sleep at night, getting dressed and going out to the courtyard to walk or practice Tai Chi. Seeing this, one couldn't help but smile wryly. Human society has been turbulent and chaotic; life is often full of circumstances beyond one's control. When society is stable and there are no wars, and one is still young and can be independent, it is a rare thing, and one should cherish it.
The afternoon sunlight, ancient and countless, this moment meeting me is like a gift unexpectedly appearing in life, and I feel a faint joy. This also reminded me that as long as there is a heart, beauty is often not far from oneself. (Bian Jianlin)
