That Coin (Poetry)
That Coin(Modern Poetry)
Author/ Cai Si

Watching my father finish the last firecracker
In joy and laughter
I began to wait for my sweet dumplings
I didn't know what 'reunion' meant
I only knew I was going to eat sweet dumplings
I only knew there was sugar inside the dumplings
There was an old grandma who also put a brand new coin
So I thought I was eating something so wonderful
So I sat down first
First to eat, until the last
Finally, I bit into the coin
Grandma, Dad, Mom, older brother, older sister all laughed
Because I ate too much, too full
I didn't know Grandma left a mark on the dumpling
I didn't know Grandma was using an ancient game
To satisfy my persistent childhood heart
The whole family was happy
I have a belly full of dumplings
Instead of a full belly of dumplings
Holding the coin and showing it off
Laughing, entering a happy dream
Until today, the mature me
Suddenly missed Grandma more
And that childhood coin
Always think about Chinese New Year
Always think about that coin
Thinking about my Grandma, Dad, Mom, older brother, older sister
Thinking about my home
