Yunnan Daily News (Reporter Zhang Rui) On April 8th, the Jinning District Forest Public Security Bureau of Kunming City rescued a national level protected animal – Gray Owl, according to public alarm.
At 08:34 on April 8th, the Jinning District Forest Public Security Bureau received an alarm from citizens: A young eagle was found fallen on the anti-theft fence of a resident in the 306 team residence area, requesting forest police to handle it.
Upon receiving the alarm, police from the Jinning District Forest Public Security Bureau immediately rushed to the alarm location, where they encountered the eagle reported by the informant. The informant told the police: 'I saw a young eagle fall on the anti-theft fence of the resident in the 306 team residence area this morning, and many residents were watching. It hadn't flown away. I was worried about it being injured or it harming nearby people, so I called the police for help.' The police approached and carefully picked it up, with its gray feathers, it was a 'cute little owl'. The police carefully observed this 'cute little owl', its body showed no signs of injury, but it couldn't fly on its own. To ensure it received better care, the police took it to the Kunming City Wildlife and Plant Rescue Center for rescue on the same day.
After identification by the center staff, this 'cute little owl' is a Gray Owl, which belongs to the national level protected animal.
