Guazhou County Police and Public Jointly Treat National Level Key Protected Animal Golden Eagle

Gansu Net, February 9th (Correspondent of Gansu Net, Deng Xiaozu, Zhao Xiaolong, Zhang Feng) Recently, the police and the public in Guazhou County jointly rescued a national level endangered wild animal, a golden eagle. On February 2nd, a railway patrol worker on the Lanxin Railway segment working at the Liu Yuan Construction Section discovered a 'hawk' that had been staying and not flying for a long time. When approaching to check, they found it was already injured. Because they were worried about the severity of the injury, several patrol workers jointly transported the 'hawk' to the Guazhou County Liu Yuan Police Station, where the police carefully examined it and prepared food and water for it, and promptly contacted the Guazhou County Natural Forest Conservation Bureau.
After identification by staff of the Guazhou County Natural Forest Conservation Bureau, the 'hawk' handed in by the patrol workers was identified as a golden eagle, a national level protected animal. Golden eagles are widely known raptors, with adult body lengths reaching 1 meter and wingspans reaching 2 meters. They mainly live in grasslands, deserts, valleys, especially coniferous forests in high mountains, with a maximum altitude of 4000 meters or more. Golden eagles usually like to live alone or in pairs.
According to Huang Liang, stationmaster of the Guazhou County Natural Forest Conservation Bureau's Cheng Nan Conservancy Station, the injured golden eagle is suspected of injuring its left wing while sliding down during flight. The wing root was fractured, resulting in a loss of flight ability, and there were no obvious external injuries or signs of avian flu. Thanks to the timely rescue by staff, this golden eagle can now eat and drink independently. Currently, the Guazhou County Natural Forest Conservation Bureau plans to send it to the Jiuquan City Wild Animal Rescue Center for further rescue.
