Mud Deposits Gradually Settling! Scientists Discover 46,000-Year-Old Blackbird
Recently, a new study published in *Paleobiology* directly examined the complete skeleton of a 46,000-year-old bird. The bird was preserved in permafrost in northeastern Siberia.

Through analysis of the bird's genetic information, researchers classified it as a type of blackbird, which was common in northern Russia.
Scientists are quite excited about such a well-preserved specimen of a prehistoric animal, stating: 'This small and fragile specimen, preserved so completely, reveals the surface environment of the Ice Age, indicating that the ground surface had gradually settled, at least, allowing the bird's skeleton to be preserved intact.'
Of course, this is not an isolated case; in November 2019, a complete skeleton of a small dog was also discovered in the same area. Researchers believe its age is approximately 18,000 years.
