Official Release: March 23rd, 17:00, The Changxing Island Public Security Bureau Tongwugong Branch Border Police Station police officers were patrolling the coastal defense zone during a patrol when they discovered a spotted seal pup on the beach sand. The pup was about 70 cm long and still had its fetal hair not fully gone. The police immediately reported to the bureau and immediately contacted the Dalian Spotted Seal Rescue Center. During the waiting period for the rescue center staff, the police cared for the cute spotted seal and took pictures.
Dalian Spotted Seal Rescue Center staff arrived and confirmed that it was a pup about one month old. Spotted seals are the only pinnipeds breeding in China's seas, and are a national grade-II protected animal. Due to the earlier warming of temperatures this year and the earlier breakup of ice, the pup stranding situation has been more frequent than in previous years.
Currently, the spotted seal pup has been taken to the Dalian Spotted Seal Rescue Center, its vital signs are stable, and it is being observed by the rescue center.
