Clamp-billed Storks Arrive in Old Dig Village

Recently, a flock of grayish-white 'large birds' appeared in Old Dig Village, Laos, residing and foraging in the waterways. After comparison, these birds should be Clamp-billed Storks. The total number of Clamp-billed Storks in this flock is nearly thirty.

Clamp-billed Stork (scientific name: Anastomus oscitans), also known as Asian Clamp-billed Stork, Asian Open-billed Stork, is a bird species living in tropical Southeast Asia, primarily distributed in India, Myanmar, and southern Vietnam. It prefers to forage for soft-bodied invertebrates in swamps and coastal mudflats, and rests in tropical wetlands such as rice fields and shallow beaches. In 2013, the Clamp-billed Stork was listed in the 'IUCN' Red List of Threatened Species as a Priority Wildlife to Protect.
