Hamster Pregnancy is Too Selfish, Mother Mouse Says: 'Want to Give Birth, Just Give Birth,' 'Can't Stop Until Finished,' 'Can Keep Babies for Next Litter'
We all have pets, and most pets have a very strong breeding ability, especially compared to humans, most people only have one or two children, and even a few pairs are considered small, and seven or eight litters are considered a lot. These little animals, if they want to, can easily have several offspring at once, and having seven or eight litters is commonplace. For example, hamsters have an exceptionally strong breeding ability, where two can produce hundreds of little hamsters.
Besides their strong breeding ability, female hamster pregnancies are even more impressive than many people realize. Hamsters are very willful when it comes to pregnancy, female hamsters will give birth whenever they want, and they won't stop until they're done. They can keep the babies and have another litter next time. For example, hamsters can start mating theoretically one month early, but they're really ready to produce full-grown babies about five months later, which is better for both the mother and the babies' health and their recovery. Hamsters usually give birth to 2-12 pups per litter. The first litter is usually smaller, with about 1-2 pups. The number depends on the mother's health. If you only want a few hamsters, it's best to let the hamsters have only one litter. This is good for pet owners.
After the female hamster is pregnant, she can give birth within 17-25 days. After the first litter, the female hamster can still have babies. If the mother hamster has enough nutrition, she can raise more than four pups each time until they grow up, which isn't a problem.
The key is that female hamsters have an exceptionally strong and willful ability to give birth. Regardless of whether they're pregnant or just finished giving birth, if they've mated with a male hamster, they can get pregnant again! And they ignore the principle of maturing together when giving birth.
In fact, even if they mate on the same day, female hamsters can keep the babies in their bellies for a while, and if they feel the belly is too full, they will give birth to two more babies to prevent themselves from getting too full. So, some pet owners have 'mother-baby pregnancies'. Although they only mated for a short period, they can give birth at different times. For example, they gave birth to one or two pups about 16 days and 17 days apart.
Later, they might think that these two pups are 'experienced' and the remaining pups aren't fully grown, so they need to wait for more pups. Therefore, pet owners watch as female hamsters, after a weak period after giving birth, continue to 'bounce around' with a big belly for several days before their bellies go down. Finally, it takes at least three days to give birth to the remaining pups.
It's undeniable that female hamsters have an exceptionally strong and willful ability to give birth. It's important to note: frequent pregnancies and births can greatly damage the mother's body. If you want your hamsters to be healthy and live a long time, and you don't want to give your hamsters too many litters, it's better to let them not mate or have a few litters.
