Panda Cub Dies from Suffocation Due to Climbing Rope Entanglement
According to @China Giant Panda Protection Research Center, on April 9, 2020, the female panda cub 'Lu Lu Zai' (born on August 10, 2019) at the Shenshiping Base of the Panda Center died due to suffocation caused by entanglement of a climbing rope around its neck. Around 2:00 AM on the 9th, 'Lu Lu Zai' climbed to a wooden platform with climbing toys in the outdoor playground of the Panda Center Kindergarten and then wrapped the rope attached to the climbing toy around its body, starting to struggle. After a few minutes, the cub stopped struggling and unfortunately died. Due to the late night incident and the difficulty in distinguishing the cub's entanglement posture from the resting posture on the wooden platform at night, the night patrol personnel failed to find the abnormality.
