Master (the Wise One) Enters the City, Stealing Vegetables and Climbing Buildings – Police Trap and Return to Jiuding Mountain

On April 8th, a monkey appeared in Xuechaojing Community, Fenyi Town, Ma’an County, Sichuan, stealing vegetables, climbing buildings, and selling cute looks. The ancient and clever monkey jumped around in the community, attracting the attention of the residents. The appearance of the ‘Master’ drew a crowd of residents. Because of concerns about the monkey injuring people, police officers fed it bananas and other fruits, successfully trapping it and sending it to the Jiuding Mountain Nature Reserve to return it to the mountains.

On the afternoon of April 8th, the Ma’an County Forest Police Station received a report stating: ‘A monkey was eating vegetables in a vegetable field in Xuechaojing Community, Fenyi Town.’ To prevent the monkey from injuring people, the Ma’an County Forest Police Station immediately contacted the Forest Pastoral Protection Section staff to go to the scene.

After verification, the ‘monkey’ referred to by the villagers was a state-level protected animal, a macaque. Because the macaque was afraid of humans, it constantly climbed on roofs and treetops, making it difficult to capture. Through feeding the macaque bananas and other fruits, it was successfully trapped.

Considering it was late at night, the staff took the macaque back to feed it and conducted a detailed examination, confirming that its body was normal. On April 9th, the Ma’an County Forest Police Station officers and the Forest Pastoral Protection Section staff went to the Jiuding Mountain Nature Reserve to return it to the mountains.
