Soaring Short-eared Owls
Recently, photographer Li Zhuyiyi captured a series of short-eared owl photos in Yaqing City, Hat Mountain.


Short-eared owls are birds of the order Strigiformes, belonging to the genus Strix. They are small in size, with a body length of about 38-40 cm, a brown-yellow owl. With long wings, a prominent face, short tufts of ear feathers located in the wild are invisible, their eyes are bright yellow, and the eye ring is dark. The upper body is yellow-brown, covered with black and yellow-brown streaks; the lower body is yellow-brown, with deep brown streaks along the length. The black wrist spots are visible when short-eared owls fly, they inhabit open fields, and they feed on small rodents, birds, insects and amphibians, they are one of the most widespread owls, and they belong to a national second-class protected animal.
