German Shepherd Standard
German Shepherds are medium-sized breeds. Allowed height for standard dogs should be between 60cm and 65cm for males, and 55cm-60cm for females. The standard height should be the average, that is, male dogs 62.5cm and female dogs 57.25cm. The ratio of height to length should be 9:10, which is approximately 100:111-117. The measurement of height is taken as the vertical distance from the shoulder blades to the ground.
The chest should occupy 45% of the body length, the forelegs should occupy 55% of the body length, the head length should occupy 40% of the body length, the tail hangs naturally, and the length should be at least as long as the dog's natural standing height beyond the elbow joint. When a dog is standing naturally, the neck forms a 45° angle extending naturally from the shoulder blades.
For the sake of convenience and easy understanding, the wolfdog's overall structure is divided into four parts: head, forelimbs, trunk, and hindlimbs, with commonly used examination terms for reference and study.
