Panyu Feizhou Fun Park: Babies Finally See the Giant-billed Heron – As Beautiful as in a Movie
The Greater Thanatosis, also known as the Whip-tailed Greater Thanatosis, is the largest of the Greater Thanosses. They are found in central and eastern South America in open environments.
Among the 40+ Greater Thanosses, the Whip-tailed Greater Thanatosis is the largest and most famous member. However, despite its fame, it is not widely known. They typically nest in swamp forests or mangrove groves.

The Greater Thanatosis’s beak almost accounts for one-third of its total length.
The Greater Thanatosis’s feathers are primarily black, with white on the throat, chest, and upper underside of the tail, and red on the lower underside of the tail. Their eyes are surrounded by light blue, with orange on the periphery. Their beaks are huge, orange-yellow, with red-orange on the lower portion and the bill spikes, with black at the tip.

The Greater Thanatosis, due to geographical reasons, is rarely seen in China, and at the Panyu Bird Park, a park themed around rare birds and fowl, babies finally get to see this Whip-tailed Greater Thanatosis and can even get close to them, the parents are so happy to be able to do this!
