South American Porcupines Eat
According to a report by VietnamNet on April 24, a zoo in Hanoi is raising three South American porcupines, also known as water rats. Although these rats are only 2 years old, their weight has already reached 100 pounds.
These largest rodents have been used in agricultural trials in Hanoi over the past few months.

The owners of these three rats say that South American porcupines are vegetable-eating rats, they do not eat meat, so they are very docile and easy to raise. They originally lived in South America and were introduced to some Vietnamese people as pets due to agricultural tourism. A fully grown South American porcupine can be one meter long and 50 centimeters high, and its weight can reach 140 to 160 pounds.
These rats also like to swim and bathe, and often play near the water source. Vietnamese people believe that South American porcupines are as docile as pigs.
