New South Sparrowhawk (Yellow Finch)
New South Community
more than ten branches and twigs
several groups of small, brightly yellow birds
dashing and fluttering densely on the branches
as if welcoming the arrival of spring

approached and carefully observed
seen these birds with short beaks
with prominent black and yellow markings on their wings…
they jump and leap between the branches
constantly bending their bodies
using their sharp beaks to skillfully peck at the seeds in the fruits
the name of these birds is
Yellow Finch Carduelis spinus
a bird of the finch family, goldfinch genus

Yellow finches are characterized by their bright yellow bodies, with brown and black markings on their wings. Male yellow finches also have a prominent black patch on their heads, while females and juveniles do not

Speaking of yellow finches, many people associate them with the idiom 'mantis catches cicada, yellow finch in the rear'. Besides yellow finches, New South Community can also observe Northern Red-tailed Shrike, Little Egret, White Stork, and Little Grasshopper Warbler, among other ten kinds of birds. These birds have added many bright colors to New South Community and reflect the community's good ecological environment.
